Little America V, Antarctica, January 1956 |
In January 1956, Dwight D. Eisenhower was still in his first term as President of the United States; and Admiral Richard E. Byrd was in the Antarctic, on what would prove to be his last trip to Little America and this continent down under (he died the following year). But what does this picture of Little America V have to do with a Biblical studies web-site? Actually, nothing, aside from the fact that the picture was taken about the time when I began to give serious study to the Scriptures, allowing me to later write the material appearing on this site. Apart from the preceding, it's just a picture which I took at an interesting place during an interesting time in history – the ’50s.
